In accordance with the amendment of certain articles of the Gender Equality in Employment Act, starting from January 18, 2022, "paternity leave" has been amended to "paternity check-up and paternity leave," and the duration has been increased from 5 days to 7 days.

In accordance with the amendment of certain articles of the Gender Equality in Employment Act (hereinafter referred to as the "Act"), effective January 18, 2022, "paternity leave" has been amended to "paternity check-up and paternity leave," and the duration has been extended from the original 5 days to 7 days.

Explanation:
1. In accordance with the Taoyuan City Government Personnel Department's submission to the Ministry of Civil Service on January 20, 2022, File No.
1115419024, and attached are 1 copy of the original official letter (including attachments).

2. This case is forwarded by the Ministry of Civil Service from the Ministry of Labor, stating that certain articles of the Act were amended and promulgated on January 12, 2022, and took effect on January 18, 2022. The articles of the Enforcement Rules of the Act, Articles 7, 9, and 15, were amended and promulgated on the same day, as well as the interpretation of Article 15, Paragraphs 4 and 5 of the Act. Furthermore, Article 2 of the Act stipulates:

That is, if civil servants need to accompany their spouses for pregnancy check-ups or when their spouses give birth, they may apply for paternity check-up and paternity leave for 7 days in accordance with Article 15 of the Act, which can be calculated by the hour. As for the number of pre-natal leave days for civil servants, it shall still be in accordance with the 8 days stipulated in Article 3, Paragraph 1, Item 4 of the current Regulations for Civil Servants' Leave of Absence.
