I. To enhance the public's understanding of the nation's geology, the institute organizes the aforementioned geological carnival activities annually across Taiwan to promote local geological features. This year (108), in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the 921 Chi-Chi earthquake and the 10th anniversary of the Typhoon Morakot disaster, the event will be held in the Zhushan and Jiji townships of Nantou County.
II. The event details are summarized as follows:
(I) Objective: To connect the knowledge of geology, disaster prevention, local history and culture, and industries in the central region, and to design geological outdoor appreciation routes to guide the public in experiencing them firsthand, thereby achieving the benefits of both education and entertainment, while simultaneously invigorating local tourism and economic development.
(II) Method: Through a combination of hiking, road running, and geological markets, participants will witness the magnificent canyon-like landscapes formed by the natural forces of plate tectonics, fault activities, and river channel changes along the Zhuoshui River.
(III) Time: Sunday, November 3, 108 (2019), from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
(IV) Location: Starting from the National Fire Agency's Firefighter Training Center in Zhushan Township, passing through the Industrial Transportation Boulevard, along the Zhuoshui River, Jiji Weir, Shizitou Mountain, Xiangbi Mountain, Jishan Road, and the area around Zinan Temple, with a total distance of approximately 17 kilometers, or a half-course of approximately 11 kilometers.
III. Participants in this event can obtain a certificate of participation, 6 hours of lifelong learning for civil servants, and 4 hours of environmental education. Please encourage interested personnel from your organization to register.
