Details:
1. "Everyone has a Doraemon in their heart!" Regardless of age, people have different imaginations and expectations for Doraemon. This world-famous cat-type robot has inspired the dreams of many people in Japan and around the world, and it was with this in mind that "THE Doraemon Exhibition" was born! The exhibition features new works by 28 renowned contemporary Japanese artists, all centered around the theme of "Doraemon in My Heart."
2. The exhibition includes internationally acclaimed artists such as Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, and Mika Ninagawa, along with many other popular emerging Japanese artists. For example, Takashi Murakami's "It's wonderful if it can be realized, and even better if it comes true," the exhibition's main visual, combines his signature "Flowers" with Doraemon. This massive artwork, 3 meters high and 6 meters wide, harmoniously blends vibrant flowers with numerous famous manga scenes. Yoshitomo Nara's Doraemi embodies his unique artistic style. Mika Ninagawa's work depicts a day date with Doraemon, showcasing a different facet of the character. The exhibition goes beyond paintings and photography, featuring mixed media, video, and three-dimensional installations. Sebastian Masuda's "Ultimate Weapon," for instance, uses colorful materials collected from around the world to create a giant Doraemon, reflecting diverse global colors. There is also a colossal artwork over 3 meters tall, inspired by the movie "Doraemon: The Little Star Wars 2021," depicting a beautiful Shizuka. Another piece, made of leather patchwork and standing 5 meters tall, portrays Shizuka and her friends in their primitive forms within a cave.
3. Students can engage with artworks across various media, including paintings, photography, video, mixed media, and installations, through familiar and beloved characters. Through the artists' visual expressions, students can re-examine Doraemon from different perspectives, while also broadening their understanding and appreciation of contemporary art.
