| Subject: | We are sending you the "1st Climate Tipping Point Film Festival" screening and public free program application guidelines. Please encourage teachers from your school to apply. Thank you for your attention. |
| Description: |
| 1. | Our organization has long been committed to advocating for environmental sustainability issues and is holding the first "Climate Tipping Point Film Festival" campus tour. The film themes include climate action, energy disputes, warming crises, and more, documenting the actions, pains, and hopes of people around the world in the face of climate change. |
| 2. | Youth, students, and other vulnerable groups are stakeholders that cannot be ignored in climate issues. To promote to these groups, we are announcing the "1st Climate Tipping Point Film Festival" screening and public free program for teachers in primary and secondary schools and public welfare organizations nationwide to choose from. |
| 3. | Introduction to the Public Free Screening Film List: |
| (1) | The Diary of a Wolf Girl's Climate |
| 1. | Kathy Drayton | 2020 | Australia | 91 min |
| 2. | "The Diary of a Wolf Girl's Climate" is a convergence of two histories: one is the catastrophic impact of climate change and the crisis of extinction in the forest ecosystems around Sydney, and the other is the journey of director Kathy Drayton's daughter, Imogen Jones, from childhood to adulthood. |
| 3. | This documentary vividly portrays the climate anxiety and reflection of the younger generation, as well as the efforts of the middle-aged generation to resist climate despair. While reflecting on climate issues, the film balances both discourse and musical aesthetics, and achieves a delicate balance between optimism and pessimism, fear and hope, depression and light. |
| (2) | Transforming Communities - People's Power Plants |
| 1. | David Byars | 2021 | USA | 39 min |
| 2. | How do community energy initiatives led by citizens in Germany's Black Forest, London, UK, and Girona, Spain, subvert traditional energy systems? How is power taken back from large energy companies and placed in the hands of local people? Through the operation of community energy cooperatives, environmental awareness is raised, electricity costs are effectively reduced, community cohesion is strengthened, and local employment opportunities are created. |
| 3. | This documentary takes viewers through the progress, considerations, and obstacles of renewable energy development in different countries. Currently, 1 million Europeans are participating in community energy. It is estimated that by 2050, 45% of Europe's electricity will come from renewable energy, and 260 million people will participate in community energy development. |
| (3) | Chronicle of the Atomic Age |
| 1. | Ken'ichi Watanabe | 2020 | France | 57 min |
| 2. | Japanese director Kenichi Watanabe completed this Franco-German public television (ARTE) documentary, "Chronicle of the Atomic Age," which explores the impact of radiation, 10 years before the Fukushima nuclear disaster. |
| 3. | This documentary spans a century, tracing the major scientific advancements in the discovery of radioactive materials and then exploring the current reality of severe radiation exposure. As the Japanese government plans to dump radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean starting in 2023, this documentary also presents the global impact of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. |
| (4) | The Battle for America's Wilderness |
| 1. | David Garrett Byars, Jeremy Hunter Rubingh, Yvon Chouinard & Robert Redford | 2020 | USA | 98 min |
| 2. | The English title of "The Battle for America's Wilderness" is "Public Trust: The Fight for America's Public Land." "Public Trust" refers to public property belonging to all American citizens, which are public lands managed by the federal government. Although the vast majority of Americans support the government's permanent protection of public lands, the existing 640 million acres of public land in the United States are facing unprecedented plunder and destruction by the fossil fuel industry, mining, and politicians. |
| 3. | This documentary describes the drilling, mining, and exploration in the Boundary Waters mine and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Utah, exploring the potential damage and impact. It points out how corporations, under the guise of "activating" idle public land, engage in plunder, and calls for the protection of America's last wilderness. |
