Student Affairs Announcement

The University of Practical Arts is organizing the "U.S. Department of State NSLI-Y High School Chinese Scholarship Program" and is seeking host families in Taiwan.

Subject: The Chinese Language Center of our university's Office of International Affairs is organizing the "NSLI-Y High School Chinese Scholarship Program" sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. We are seeking Taiwanese host families and kindly request that you post this announcement and encourage faculty, staff, and parents to apply. Please acknowledge receipt.
Details:  
1. The participants of the aforementioned program are scheduled to study in Taiwan from June 28, 2024, to August 11, 2024. They will attend Chinese language courses on our Taipei campus on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and will be staying with host families during their study period.
2. To deepen the cultural exchange between the participants and local residents during their Chinese language studies in Taiwan, and to cultivate their ability to use Chinese in daily life, we are seeking Taiwanese families who are interested in American culture and willing to provide accommodation for the participants.
3. Information regarding the selection of host families is as follows:
(1) Homestay Period: From June 28, 2024, to August 11, 2024.
(2) Homestay Location: Greater Taipei Area.
(3) Hosting Requirements: Provide a private room or a single bed (bunk beds are acceptable) for the participant, meals during their stay, and arrange family outings with the participant.
(4) Subsidy: A daily subsidy of NT$1,000 will be provided.
4. Interested applicants are welcome to attend an information session. Details are as follows:
(1) Information Session Time: May 5, 2024 (Sunday), 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

(3) Information Session Location: B1 Conference Hall, International Building, Building B, our Taipei Campus (online participation is also available).
5. If you are interested in becoming a host family, please fill out the application form (https://forms.gle/qyfvZJi1SvLVLKJV8) and attend the information session. The organizing unit of our university will conduct on-site visits to the accommodation locations before notifying the list of selected families.
