Description:
I.This is in accordance with the letter No. 1140134131 dated December 18, 114, from the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education.
II.Based on the discussions at the 4th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Vaccination Group (ACIP) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare on December 9, 114, considering that winter is the season for respiratory infectious diseases, and the subsequent increase in travel and visits during the Lunar New Year holidays will increase the risk of COVID-19 transmission, and it takes about 2 weeks to develop antibodies after vaccination, it was decided to expand the scope of free COVID-19 vaccination to include "individuals aged 6 months and above who have not yet been vaccinated" from January 1, 115, to February 28, 115, in order to enhance the public's immune protection and reduce the risk of severe illness and death after infection.
III.Currently, there are two brands of free COVID-19 vaccines available in Taiwan: Moderna and Novavax. According to the approved indications, the Moderna LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine is suitable for individuals aged 6 months and above, while the Novavax JN.1 COVID-19 vaccine is suitable for individuals aged 12 years and above. Therefore, individuals aged 6 months to 11 years can only receive the Moderna LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine, and individuals aged 12 years and above can choose either brand of vaccine. During the expanded vaccination period, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated can receive the vaccine. If an individual has already received one brand of vaccine, they do not need to be vaccinated again; related vaccination recommendations are the same as the current implementation.
IV.Information on vaccination locations for the aforementioned vaccines will be regularly updated on the COVID-19 Vaccination Special Zone of each local health bureau and the "Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccine and Influenza Medication Map" of the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control. To promote international exchange and research and development in cooperative enterprises, the Taiwan Housewives' Association Consumer Cooperative (hereinafter referred to as the Housewives' Association Cooperative) is organizing the aforementioned HUB lecture. Please refer to the event poster for the online registration link.
V.If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Ms. Chang Chia-ling at the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, at telephone number: 04-37061364.
