| Subject: | Please strengthen the inspection of managed areas after rain and eliminate breeding sources to prevent the breeding of disease vectors and the spread of diseases. Please be informed. |
| Explanation: |
| 1. | In accordance with the letter of the Provincial Government, Health Department, Disease Control No. 1150172803, dated June 22, 115. |
| 2. | Due to the recent changeable weather in our city, various containers and low-lying areas are prone to water accumulation after rain, which is conducive to the growth of disease vectors. Stagnant water indoors and outdoors can easily become breeding sources. Their larvae (wrigglers) are commonly found in water buckets, container lids, flower pot saucers, tires, tree hollows, and plastic sheeting used for covering. If not cleared promptly, it increases the risk of disease vector breeding. |
| 3. | Furthermore, a cluster of dengue fever cases occurred in medical institutions in the southern region recently, indicating that dengue fever still poses a risk of community and institutional transmission. Vigilance should be raised and relevant prevention and control measures should be strengthened. |
| 4. | Recently, relevant units conducted joint inspections of schools, scenic spots, and dormitory for migrant workers. A total of 4 locations were inspected, and 29 containers with stagnant water were found, of which 11 were positive for breeding sources. This indicates that some areas still have a risk of disease vector breeding. |
| 5. | To prevent the breeding of disease vectors and the spread of diseases, please increase the frequency of environmental cleaning after rain, regularly clear stagnant water containers in managed areas, and implement the "inspect, pour, clear, scrub" breeding source elimination operations. Please also strengthen publicity and supervision to ensure environmental tidiness. |
| 6. | The "Taoyuan City Measures for Preventing Disease Vector Breeding and Eradicating Breeding Sources to Prevent Dengue Fever, Chikungunya, and Zika Virus Infections" were implemented on June 1, 115. If breeding sources of disease vectors are found, a fine of NT$3,000 to NT$15,000 will be imposed in accordance with Articles 25 and 70 of the Communicable Disease Control Act. |
| 7. | Attached are the "Taoyuan City Measures for Preventing Disease Vector Breeding and Eradicating Breeding Sources to Prevent Dengue Fever, Chikungunya, and Zika Virus Infections" and a dengue fever promotional flyer, each for one copy. |
