Academic Affairs Announcement

To inform you that the Ministry of Education's National and Preschool Education Administration is organizing the selection of new members for the 109th academic year's Central Curriculum and Teaching Guidance Consulting Teacher Team (hereinafter referred to as the Central Team).

Description:
I. In accordance with the letter No. 1090052672 dated May 14, 2020, from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Ministry of Education.
II. Matters related to the selection of new team members are detailed in the brochure (attached), with the following highlights:
(1) Selection qualifications: Current in-service qualified teachers for elementary and junior high schools, with at least five years of teaching experience as a qualified teacher and at least three years of experience as a part-time counselor in a municipal/county/city counseling group, or at least two years of experience as a full-time counselor in a municipal/county/city counseling group. For those with special qualifications (e.g., Power Teacher) or conditions, the years of service in a municipal/county/city counseling group may be appropriately shortened.
(2) Units eligible to recommend central team teachers:
1. Education Bureaus (Departments) of Municipalities and County/City Governments.
2. Counseling groups for various subject areas/curricula/issues.
3. Current central team teachers.
(3) Selection criteria:
1. Professional competence for serving as a central team teacher (understanding and interpreting educational policies, problem awareness and diagnostic skills, instructional supervision and evaluation skills, teaching innovation and research capabilities, organizational management and leadership skills, etc.).
2. Expertise in specialized subject areas (subject knowledge, familiarity with curriculum design and materials, teaching methods, etc.).
3. Personal qualities (enthusiasm for service, willingness to engage with people, good communication skills, reflective, rational thinking, and teamwork, etc.).
(4) Recommendation method:
1. Recommendation period: From now until May 21, 2020 (Thursday). All recommendations must be submitted by mail.
2. The Department will conduct an initial review to determine if the recommended personnel meet the basic qualifications. The results and subsequent selection matters will be announced on the "Ministry of Education National Elementary and Junior High School Curriculum and Teaching Resources Integration Platform" (CIRN) before May 25, 2020 (Monday).
(5) Important timeline for selection process:
1. Selection date: May 29, 2020 (Friday) at Conference Room 18, 18th Floor, South Tower, Central Joint Office Building (No. 5, Xuzhou Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City).
2. Announcement of selected candidates: The list of principal and alternate candidates will be announced on CIRN before June 12, 2020 (Friday), and the official list of selected candidates will be notified thereafter.
(6) To prevent teachers' participation in central team affairs from affecting school duties, please communicate with your service school before applying. Only apply after obtaining the principal's consent and confirmation that you will be exempt from homeroom teacher duties for the service academic year.
(7) The Department will appoint central team teachers based on the selection results and issue appointment letters. The appointment period is generally one academic year. The Department may extend the appointment based on the performance of the central team teachers, with each extension being for one academic year. Furthermore, for outstanding performance by central team teachers during their service, their respective school principals will also receive commendations.
(8) The initial team meeting for the 2020 academic year will be held from August 10, 2020 (Monday) to August 14, 2020 (Friday) at the Sanxia Campus of the National Academy for Educational Research. New central team members must attend the entire session; those who do not attend the entire session will not be appointed.
III. The operation of the Central Curriculum and Teaching Consultation Teacher Team, as well as the rights, obligations, and evaluations of central team teachers, shall be in accordance with the "Key Points for the Establishment and Operation of the Ministry of Education's Central Curriculum and Teaching Consultation Teacher Team." Please refer to it yourself.
IV. Attached are copies of the original letter and the selection brochure, each in one copy.
