Teacher Training Program for Remote Teaching of Taiwanese Sign Language in Senior Secondary Schools and Below

Subject: Attached is the "Teacher Training Program for Remote Teaching of Taiwanese Sign Language in Senior and Below Schools" for your reference. Please inform eligible individuals under your jurisdiction to actively register. Thank you.
Explanation:  
1. In accordance with the letter from the Ministry of Education's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (hereinafter referred to as the "Department") dated March 15, 111 (2022), Ref: Tai Jiao Guo Shu Yuan Zi Di 1110032253.
2. In response to Taiwanese Sign Language being incorporated into the mandatory curriculum for senior and below schools starting from the 111 academic year (2022-2023), and to ensure sufficient teachers for Taiwanese Sign Language courses, the Department, in addition to organizing training for teaching support staff and current teachers, has commissioned National Central University to implement the aforementioned training program to assist schools that have difficulty hiring physical course instructors. Key information is summarized as follows:
(1) Target Audience (Participants must meet one of the following four eligibility criteria and will be selected based on other qualifications):
1. Possess certification as a Taiwanese Sign Language teaching support staff or current teacher issued by the Department or local education bureaus.
2. Currently participating in training for Taiwanese Sign Language teaching support staff or current teachers organized by the Department or local education bureaus.
3. Hold a Level C or higher technician certificate in sign language interpretation.
4. Have previously qualified as a sign language interpretation evaluator by the Ministry of Labor's Skill Testing Center.
5. Participants meeting the eligibility criteria in items 3 and 4 above must also obtain certification as a Taiwanese Sign Language teaching support staff or current teacher from the Department or local education bureaus to teach sign language courses.
(2) Total number of remote teaching instructors to be trained: A total of 4 sessions are planned, with 25 participants per session (with 5 alternates), for a total of 100 trainees.
(3) Training curriculum: Each session will consist of a total of 9 hours of training, divided into 4 hours of in-person instruction (including an introduction to remote teaching and operation of remote teaching software and hardware), 2 hours of online synchronous courses (including remote teaching techniques and online class interaction management), and 3 hours of asynchronous courses (presentation design and delivery, remote course branding, and remote course learning assessment). The dates and locations for each type of course in each session are detailed in the attachment.
(4) Conditions for obtaining a completion certificate: Participants must attend all training sessions, complete assigned homework and tests, and achieve a score of at least 60 in all subjects.

4. This bureau approves official leave for current teachers participating in the training. If your school requires substitute teachers, please submit the original signed class schedule and estimated budget to the Elementary Education Section of this bureau by April 22, 111 (Friday), and contact Ms. Fan at 03-3322101 ext. 7417 for confirmation.
