Description:
1. In accordance with the letter from National Taiwan Normal University, No. 1081017361, dated June 21, 2019.
2. In response to the core competencies of the 12-year basic education curriculum, which emphasizes the cultivation of people-centered "autonomous action," "communication and interaction," and "social participation," including aspects such as "physical and mental quality and self-improvement," "symbol usage and communication expression," "technology, information, and media literacy," "interpersonal relationships and teamwork," and "multiculturalism and international understanding." National Taiwan Normal University, in collaboration with the Global Learning and Assessment Development (GLAD) Center in the United States, aims to enhance the foundational English language abilities of all students in Taiwan, reduce the urban-rural learning gap, improve students' core foundational vocabulary skills, and establish a strong linguistic foundation for internationalization. Additionally, to stimulate English vocabulary proficiency among high school students (including applied foreign languages and comprehensive high schools), vocational high schools, junior high schools, and elementary schools, the "14th National Vocabulary Proficiency VQC Competition (2019)" is being organized.
3. Participants and Eligibility: Currently enrolled students in elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools (including vocational high schools), and universities. Each participating student must have a supervising teacher.
4. Event Content: The VQC English vocabulary proficiency competition is divided into four groups: High School Group (including the English group for applied foreign languages), Vocational High School Group (including specialized subjects for years 1, 2, and 3), Junior High School Group, and Elementary School Group.
5. Event Format: This competition adopts a two-tier system, with preliminary rounds and a national final for each group.
(1) Preliminary Rounds:
1. Individual Category: Participants can register online independently. Group Category: Each unit should register online for the group category (registration deadline: September 12).
2. The locations and dates for the preliminary rounds in each region are as follows:
(1) Taipei: September 28 (Saturday), Location: Taipei Municipal Neihu Vocational High School.
(2) Taichung: September 28 (Saturday), Location: Mingde High School, Taichung City.
(3) Tainan: September 28 (Saturday), Location: National Tainan Commercial Industrial Vocational High School.
(2) National Final: Scheduled for October 26, 2019 (Saturday), to be held at Mingde High School in Taichung (tentative).
