Youth Citizen Science Special Collection Group

{{ $t('FEZ002') }} Student Affairs Office|

Subject: Attached please find the "Youth Citizen Science Special Collection Group" activity plan and related attachments for this office's 111th year. We kindly request your assistance in promoting it and encouraging students to register and participate.
Details:
1. To promote youth participation in citizen science activities, this office has planned a series of citizen science lectures and field observation activities this year (111th year) (see attachment 1 for the activity plan). The aim is to inspire young students to actively engage in citizen science, develop and implement service-learning actions, and contribute to environmental and ecological sustainability.
2. The aforementioned program is co-organized by the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, and this office. Lecturers from Academia Sinica, various universities, institutions, and professional fields have been invited to conduct the courses.
3. In the spirit of citizen science sharing, the lecture series is open for registration to the public of all ages and regions. Teachers and parents are also welcome to participate. However, the eligibility for applying for "service-learning hours" in this program is limited to students aged 12-19 (including self-learners) who are registered residents or enrolled in schools in Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung City, and Taoyuan City.
4. This program's lecture series is designed as a "Dong Gu Li" point collection game. Each lecture earns 1 point. Students who accumulate 2 "Dong Gu Li" points will qualify for the basic service report submission. After completing a self-initiated service action report, they can apply for certification from this office. This office will review the report content and issue service-learning hours accordingly. (Table A, to be filled out when uploading the report, is attached).
5. The lecture series includes two field observation activities. The "Fushan Botanical Garden Challenge" is a 2-day, 1-night overnight course held at the Fushan Research Center of the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute. In addition to intensive small-group guidance from professional lecturers, there will be opportunities for observing wild animals in the early morning and at night. Eligibility for participation will be determined by the accumulated "Dong Gu Li" points. (See attachment 2 for details on the Fushan Botanical Garden overnight course).
6. Latest lecture and activity registration information can be found on this office's official website (https://reurl.cc/Rjlanr) or the dedicated activity website (https://reurl.cc/l9j83Y).
7. We kindly request that you assist in posting this event's poster (attachment 4) and plan attachments on your school's official website, and encourage students from your school's science clubs (e.g., biology club, science club, astronomy club) and service clubs to actively register and participate.
