Subject: The Central Epidemic Command Center for Severe Special Infectious Pneumonia (COVID-19) aims to balance the accuracy of COVID-19 testing and reduce the burden on the public. It has conditionally allowed designated institutions for self-paid nucleic acid testing to add the pooling method for testing and has revised the "Regulations for Applying for Self-Paid COVID-19 Testing for the Public." Please be informed.
Explanation:
1. This is handled in accordance with the letter from the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, dated April 22, 111 (2022), Ref: Tai Jiao Guo Shu Xue Zi Di 1110051771.
2. The Command Center, considering testing efficiency and reducing the public's burden, has conditionally allowed designated institutions for self-paid testing to add the COVID-19 self-paid nucleic acid pooling method for testing. The relevant explanations are as follows:
(1) Eligible individuals: Individuals who require self-paid nucleic acid testing can undergo testing at designated self-paid testing institutions. However, for individuals with testing needs for entry/exit or those at risk of COVID-19 infection (e.g., home quarantine/home isolation/self-health management), single specimen testing will continue to be used.
(2) Testing Fees:
1. According to Article 21 of the Medical Affairs Act: "The standards for medical fees charged by medical institutions shall be approved by the competent authorities of the municipalities and counties (cities)."
2. The suggested price for self-paid nucleic acid pooling testing shall not exceed NT$1,500 per test (including reagents, consumables, personnel, equipment, and the cost of re-testing if the pooled test result is positive). No additional fees will be charged for re-testing if the pooled test result is positive.
3. The electronic files for the "Regulations for Applying for Self-Paid COVID-19 Testing for the Public" and the Q&A have been uploaded to the official website of the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (www.cdc.gov.tw), under the COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention Zone / Guidelines for Infection Control in Medical Care Institutions. Please download and refer to them.
