Subject: Eden Social Welfare Foundation's 'Volunteer Without Barriers' volunteer service activity promotion. We kindly request all units to assist in publicizing this event. Please be informed.
Details:
1. Our foundation is a social welfare organization, founded by Ms. Liu Hsia (author Hsing Lin-tzu) on December 1, 1982. Our primary goal is to care for the holistic rehabilitation of the body, mind, and spirit of one million people with disabilities in Taiwan, and then extend our services to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, women, and indigenous peoples, providing comprehensive services. In 2018, our foundation established the world's first and only practical research center focused on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), continuously promoting its implementation. The purpose is to 'promote, protect and ensure all persons with disabilities enjoy fully and equitably all human rights and fundamental freedoms, and to promote respect for their inherent dignity. Persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.'
2. Our foundation has arranged to hold the 'Volunteer Without Barriers' service activity from July 2022 to September 2022. By role-playing as visually impaired individuals and measuring the height of people with disabilities, we aim to help participants break free from textbook knowledge and try to experience it firsthand. Through park exploration, we want to help the public understand the difficulties faced by people with disabilities when navigating urban environments, and to promote public awareness of barrier-free environments and social education responsibilities, so that all parks in Taiwan can provide friendly facilities for people with disabilities.
3. We kindly request your school to provide students with opportunities to participate and learn. Through practical experience and interaction, students can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and diverse possibilities faced by people with disabilities in their daily lives, thereby creating a fairer and friendlier environment. At the same time, through the experiential activities, they can better understand friends with disabilities, fostering mutual understanding and respect, and seeing the world from different perspectives. In the future, when encountering individuals with disabilities, they will be able to offer appropriate care, understanding, and warmth, making their summer break more fulfilling.
4. Application Method: Please assist the school in publicizing this to all classes. Follow the instructions in the promotional material to add Eden Volunteers on LINE (@104vdxgb) for registration.
5. Activity Dates: July 16, 2022, to September 15, 2022.
