Heat injury prevention measures

{{ $t('FEZ002') }} Student Affairs Office|

Subject: Considering the recent hot weather, all schools (kindergartens) are requested to strengthen the implementation of heatstroke prevention measures when organizing various activities and courses to avoid heatstroke incidents. Please be informed.
Explanation:
1. To prevent heatstroke incidents in schools due to hot weather, all schools (kindergartens) are requested to continuously promote and implement the following heatstroke prevention measures:
(1) Adequate hydration and electrolyte replenishment: It is advised to constantly replenish fluids and not wait until thirsty to drink. Room temperature water is recommended. If engaging in sports, drink 400-600cc of water (in 2-3 servings) 30 minutes before exercise; drink 200-300cc every 10 to 20 minutes before and during exercise. Room temperature water is preferred, and electrolytes should be replenished in a timely manner.
(2) Avoid activities under direct sunlight: Continuously monitor high temperature information and UV index released by the Central Weather Bureau. Reduce outdoor activities and courses between 10 AM and 2 PM, and adjust to indoor or shaded areas as appropriate to ensure student safety.
(3) Wear cool and breathable clothing: It is advised to wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting, breathable clothing with good moisture-wicking and sweat-absorbing properties to enhance heat dissipation.
(4) Maintain classroom ventilation: Use air conditioning, electric fans, or misting to lower indoor temperatures and regularly check if ventilation equipment is operating normally.
(5) Establish emergency procedures for heatstroke in schools: Continuously monitor students' physical condition during activities. If students experience symptoms such as convulsions, fainting, headache, fatigue, or confusion, they should be moved to a cool, well-ventilated area to rest and be sent to a hospital for assessment and treatment as soon as possible.
2. All school (kindergarten) personnel should regularly monitor the apparent temperature forecast released by the Meteorological Bureau. If the apparent temperature reaches the threshold, all schools (kindergartens) should adjust the implementation of various activities and courses in accordance with the "Guidelines for Outdoor Activities in Taoyuan City Schools in Response to High Temperatures."
3. The above guidelines are provided for reference by all schools (kindergartens). Schools (kindergartens) may still arrange appropriate activities and venues based on school site planning and students' physical conditions. However, all schools (kindergartens) must pay attention to students' sun protection and hydration to prevent prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, thereby reducing the risk of heatstroke in schools.
4. Additionally, resources such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare's health education materials for heatstroke prevention, manuals, infographics, special articles, and the "Happy Weather APP - Health Weather Service" are provided. All schools (kindergartens) are encouraged to utilize them:
