| I. | In accordance with the "Regulations on the Identification of Students with Disabilities and Giftedness," the "Regulations on the Adjustment of Admission Age and Study Duration for Special Education Students," and the "Key Points and Implementation Methods for Shortening the Study Duration for Gifted Students in Primary and Secondary Schools in Taoyuan City," the following is carried out. |
| II. | According to the aforementioned key points, schools can shorten the study duration for gifted students in five ways: exemption from courses (learning domains) after passing subject achievement tests, acceleration in some subjects (learning domains), simultaneous acceleration in all subjects (learning domains), grade skipping in some subjects (learning domains), and grade skipping in all subjects (learning domains). |
| III. | The following is an excerpt of the work done by schools to shorten the study duration for gifted students: |
| (1) | The school's implementation plan for shortening the study duration for gifted students should be announced online and widely publicized within three weeks after the start of each semester. |
| (2) | For students applying for course exemption, acceleration in some subjects, or acceleration in all subjects, after being reviewed and approved by the Special Education Promotion Committee, the relevant documents, including the learning support plan, the minutes of the Special Education Promotion Committee meeting, and the identification materials, should be submitted to the Bureau for record by December 15th for the first semester and by May 15th for the second semester, and then processed. |
| (3) | For applications for grade skipping in some subjects or grade skipping in all subjects, after being reviewed and approved by the school's Special Education Promotion Committee, the relevant documents, including the learning support plan, the minutes of the Special Education Promotion Committee meeting, and the identification materials, should be submitted to the Bureau for record by December 15th for the first semester and by May 15th for the second semester. These applications must then be reviewed and approved by the Taoyuan City Special Education Student Identification and Guidance Committee and approved by the Bureau before implementation. |
| IV. | All schools are requested to handle student applications that meet the eligibility criteria in accordance with the aforementioned regulations. Attached are the "Key Points for Shortening the Study Duration for Gifted Students in Primary and Secondary Schools in this City," the "Implementation Methods," the "Flowchart," and "Reference Examples," one copy of each.. |
