For your information, regarding the Ministry of Education's letter Tai Jiao Ren (San) Zi Di 1090067175 dated May 12, 109, concerning the regulations for granting bereavement leave in schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Explanation:
1. In accordance with the Ministry of Education's letter Tai Jiao Ren (San) Zi Di 1120077990B dated August 10, 112.
2. Article 3, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 6 of the Regulations for Teachers' Leave stipulates that bereavement leave can be applied for in installments and must be completed within 100 days from the date of the relative's death.
3. Furthermore, the Ministry of Education's letter states that during the COVID-19 pandemic, if schools are unable to grant bereavement leave within the 100-day period due to epidemic prevention needs, and teachers genuinely require an extension for applying for bereavement leave, schools may consider granting leave within 1 year from the date of the relative's death.
4. As the COVID-19 pandemic is gradually subsiding, the aforementioned matters are adjusted as follows:
(1) For teachers who, before the dissolution of the COVID-19 Central Epidemic Command Center on May 1, 112, were granted an extension of bereavement leave up to 1 year from the date of their relative's death with the school's approval, in accordance with the Ministry of Education's letter dated May 12, 109, they may still complete their leave within the period specified in that letter.
(2) From May 1, 112, until the date of issuance of the Ministry of Education's letter Tai Jiao Ren (San) Zi Di 1120077990B dated August 10, 112, bereavement leave for the death of a teacher's relative should, in principle, be granted according to the leave period stipulated in the Regulations for Teachers' Leave. However, if the school has actually considered that the teacher has epidemic prevention needs and has approved the extension of bereavement leave according to the Ministry of Education's letter dated May 12, 109, exceptions may still be made to grant leave within 1 year from the date of the teacher's relative's death.
(3) In situations other than those mentioned above, the implementation period for teachers' bereavement leave shall revert to the provisions of the Regulations for Teachers' Leave. The Ministry of Education's letter dated May 12, 109, will cease to apply from today.
