Announcement Compilation

Inform the National Education and Early Childhood Education Administration of the Ministry of Education that the Environmental Quality Foundation is organizing a workshop on "Climate Action and Human Rights" in response to the "National Human Rights Action Plan."

Description:  
I. In accordance with the letter from the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, dated August 17, 112 (2023), Ref. No. 臺教國署學字第1120110642, and the letter from the Environmental Quality Protection Foundation, dated August 17, 112 (2023), Ref. No. 環品字第1120817001.
II. In May 111 (2022), the Executive Yuan approved the "National Human Rights Action Plan," which includes a special chapter on "Climate Change and Human Rights." This chapter encompasses four major goals: ensuring the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment; ensuring a just transition towards sustainability; improving systems for the development and transfer of environmentally friendly technologies; and ensuring intergenerational equity in development.
III. To further promote awareness of climate and human rights issues, the Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan has commissioned the Foundation to organize the aforementioned workshop. Government personnel, planners, and the public involved in climate-related issues are invited to participate, brainstorm, discuss, and practice integrating climate issues with human rights. The event is free of charge and offers lifelong learning hours for civil servants and environmental education certification. Key information is summarized as follows:
(1) Commissioning Unit: Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan; Organizing Unit: Environmental Quality Protection Foundation.
(2) Event Sessions and Content (6 sessions in total), with 40 participants planned for each session:
1. August 31 (Thursday), Taipei Session: Residential/Commercial/Transportation, registration from 8:50 AM to 9:10 AM.
2. September 12 (Tuesday), Kaohsiung Session: Manufacturing/Energy, registration from 1:10 PM to 1:30 PM.
3. September 21 (Thursday), Taipei Session: Agriculture/Environment, registration from 8:50 AM to 9:10 AM.
4. September 22 (Friday), Taipei Session: Manufacturing/Energy, registration from 8:50 AM to 9:10 AM.
5. September 26 (Tuesday), Taichung Session: Agriculture/Environment, registration from 1:10 PM to 1:30 PM.
6. September 28 (Thursday), Taipei Session: Residential/Commercial/Transportation, registration from 8:50 AM to 9:10 AM.
(3) Event Locations:
1. Taipei Session: NGO会馆 (NGO Residence), No. 8, Qingdao East Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City (5-minute walk from Shandao Temple Station on the Blue Line MRT).
2. Taichung Session: TOP SPACE Center, 3rd Floor, No. 23, Minzu Road, Central District, Taichung City (5-minute walk from Taichung Station).
3. Kaohsiung Session: WORKHUB Space, 11th Floor-1, No. 251, Minquan 1st Road, Xinxing District, Kaohsiung City (5-minute walk from Sinyi Elementary School Station on the Orange Line MRT).
(4) Session Content: Integrating Climate Action with Human Rights (issue explanation, introduction to the draft guidelines for integrating human rights into Nationally Determined Contributions, introduction to the draft operational guidelines for integrating human rights into the National Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan); Climate and Human Rights Case Study Practice (group discussion, case explanation, introduction to policy review, fact-finding, regulatory inventory, and human rights issue scanning - 4 steps); Climate and Human Rights Case Sharing and Analysis (group sharing, opinion exchange and feedback, climate and human rights brainstorming) - approximately 3 hours.
