For your information, regarding the matter of leave and class coverage for students and staff of public and private schools at all levels (including kindergartens) in this city who are infected with dengue fever, please refer to the details below.

Details:
1. In accordance with the letter from the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, No. 1120175029, dated December 12, 112 (Republic of China calendar), and the "Dengue Fever/Chikungunya Prevention and Control Guidelines" from the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare.

2. According to Article 38 of the Communicable Disease Control Act, personnel who are notified by the local competent authority and appear in person shall be granted official leave by their respective agencies (institutions), schools, groups, companies, or factories as instructed by the competent authority.

3. Considering that dengue fever is a Class II statutory communicable disease, and in order to maintain consistency in dengue fever epidemic prevention and school management, the Taoyuan City Government Department of Education agrees to grant official leave to staff of public and private schools at all levels (including kindergartens) in this city in accordance with Article 38 of the Communicable Disease Control Act. The resulting class coverage shall be arranged by the school, and handled as follows:
(1) In conjunction with chemical control (spraying), one day of official leave with class coverage shall be granted.
(2) In conjunction with mandatory mosquito breeding site inspection, half a day of official leave with class coverage shall be granted.

4. Furthermore, according to the "Dengue Fever/Chikungunya Prevention and Control Guidelines" from the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare, the 5-day period after the onset of dengue fever symptoms is the "infectious period" (also known as the "viremic period"). If an infected person is bitten by a mosquito during this period, the mosquito can transmit dengue fever. Therefore, infected individuals should avoid going out as much as possible during this period. To strengthen campus epidemic prevention efforts, the matters concerning leave and class coverage for students and staff of public and private schools at all levels (including kindergartens) in this city who are infected with dengue fever are explained as follows:
(1) Students: If confirmed with dengue fever by the health authorities, it is recommended that they rest at home for 5 days after the onset of symptoms, avoid coming to school, and be granted flexible sick leave based on a doctor's certificate or screening proof, which will not be included in attendance records.
(2) Staff: If confirmed with dengue fever by the health authorities, it is recommended that they rest at home for 5 days after the onset of symptoms, avoid coming to school, and be granted sick leave based on a doctor's certificate or screening proof. The resulting class coverage shall be arranged by the school.
