Announcement Compilation

Regarding Singapore's intensified crackdown on e-cigarettes, travelers carrying e-cigarettes across land, sea, or air checkpoints will be fined. We kindly request your school's assistance in disseminating this information to raise awareness.

I. In accordance with the letter from the Department of Secondary and Preschool Education, Ministry of Education, dated January 3, 113 (2024), Ref. No. 1120185045.
II. According to the information provided by the Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Singapore, the Singapore Ministry of Health and other government agencies have strengthened domestic e-cigarette control measures. These include enhanced inspections at sea, land, and air checkpoints, intensified monitoring and crackdown on online sales and advertising, and stricter enforcement against the use and possession of e-cigarettes in public places.
III. Furthermore, the "Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act" in Taiwan was amended and implemented on March 22, 112 (2023). E-cigarettes have been classified as "imitation tobacco products" and are completely prohibited. Heated tobacco products are classified as "designated tobacco products" and are subject to strict control. According to Article 15, Paragraph 1, Subparagraphs 2 and 3 of the Act, no person shall import imitation tobacco products or their component parts, or designated tobacco products or their necessary component parts that have not been reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Additionally, according to information on the website of the Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare, as of December 11, 112 (2023), no designated tobacco products have been approved for review.
IV. As the winter break is approaching and travel is frequent during holidays, please remind your faculty, staff, and students to comply with Singapore's e-cigarette control laws if they travel there. Please also widely publicize that upon returning to Taiwan, they should not bring imitation tobacco products or designated tobacco products into the country, in accordance with the regulations of the "Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act."
