| Instructions: |
| 1. | In accordance with the Department's letter dated January 16, 2024, Ref. No. 1130005279. |
| 2. | To keep pace with the times in English education in our country, the Department has commissioned National Taiwan Normal University (hereinafter referred to as "NTNU") to organize the aforementioned program. By sending junior and elementary school English teachers for short-term overseas study, their English teaching professional knowledge and skills will be enhanced, enabling them to improve junior and elementary school students' English oral expression and communication abilities through better teaching strategies, thereby implementing government policies. Related information is as follows: |
| (1) | Program Implementation Method: |
| 1. | Study Period: Each session is 3 weeks. The first session is scheduled from July 8 to July 26, 2024 (3 classes). The second session is scheduled from July 15 to August 2, 2024 (1 class). The third session is scheduled from July 22 to August 9, 2024 (2 classes). The fourth session is scheduled from July 29 to August 16, 2024 (2 classes), totaling 8 classes. |
| 2. | Number of Classes: Junior high school English teacher group (3 classes) and elementary school English teacher group (5 classes), totaling 8 classes. Each class has 25 students. |
| (2) | Host Universities: |
| 1. | Junior High Education Level: Study at the University of British Columbia in Canada and the University of California, Davis in the United States. |
| 2. | Elementary Education Level: Study at the University of California, Davis in the United States, Macquarie University in Australia, and Queensland University of Technology in Australia. |
| (3) | Teacher's Personal Study Expenses: Includes round-trip economy class airfare, accommodation during the study period, transportation between the accommodation and the overseas university (excluding non-study days), and meals (excluding daily dinners). The aforementioned expenses will be subsidized by the Department and managed by NTNU. Additionally, selected teachers will be responsible for their own personal expenses, including passport fees, visa fees, daily dinners during the study period, overseas insurance, and other personal costs. |
| (4) | Participation Method: |
| 1. | Eligibility: |
| (1) | Full-time English teachers who have served continuously for at least 3 years in public elementary or junior high schools in general areas or non-mountainous/non-urban areas. |
| (2) | Full-time English teachers who have served continuously for at least 3 years in public elementary or junior high schools in remote areas (may include up to 2 years of experience as a substitute English teacher in a remote area school). |
| 2. | Number of Participating Teachers: 200 English teachers will be selected in 2024 (75 for junior high, 125 for elementary) for short-term overseas study during the summer of 2024. |
| (5) | Application Method: |
| 1. | Online application only. Please refer to Section 3(4) "Application Method" in the application brochure for the application website. |
| 2. | Application Period: From Monday, January 22, 2024, to Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11:59 PM. |
| (6) | Notification of Selection: The list of selected and reserve candidates will be announced on the Department's website homepage under "Latest News" after Wednesday, April 3, 2024, and will be officially notified to this Bureau in a separate letter. |
| 3. | During the teacher's overseas study period, please grant the participating teachers official leave (business trip) registration according to your responsibilities. If there are any class or duty arrangements, please assist in adjusting, assigning substitutes, and arranging relevant duty agents so that teachers can participate in the aforementioned training with peace of mind. |
