Explanation:
I. The key amendments to the Public Insurance Act are summarized as follows:
(1) The restrictions of "having paid insurance premiums for 280 days" in the original Paragraph 1, Item 1, and "having paid insurance premiums for 180 days" in the original Paragraph 1, Item 2, have been deleted. It is now stipulated that "being pregnant during the effective period of insurance, and giving birth or having a premature birth due to the same pregnancy within one year after the suspension of insurance coverage" is a legal requirement for claiming maternity benefits.
(2) If an individual meets the eligibility criteria for maternity benefits under relevant social insurance or receives maternity subsidies as a military, civil servant, or public school employee, they can only choose one to claim.
(3) For insured individuals from June 1, 103 (2014) to January 4, 113 (2024), if they meet one of the aforementioned revised legal requirements for public insurance maternity benefits, and have not previously received public insurance, relevant social insurance maternity benefits, or military, civil servant, or public school employee maternity subsidies for the same birth or premature birth, they may apply for public insurance maternity benefits from the Public Insurance Department of the Bank of Taiwan within 10 years from January 5, 113 (2024).
