Subject: To inform that the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts invites teachers and students from your school to visit the exhibitions at the National Photography Center Taipei and to organize field trips. Please be informed.
Details:
1. The National Photography Center Taipei (No. 70, Section 1, Zhongxiao West Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City), located in the Taipei Main Station commercial district, has been open since April 19, 2021. In conjunction with its Taichung office, it has organized 20 in-depth special exhibitions and 1 permanent exhibition on architectural history, attracting a large number of visitors (including field trips from various schools) and receiving excellent recognition from the education and photography art communities.
2. We cordially invite teachers and students from your school to visit the Taipei Center to practice learning outside the classroom, integrating sensory and experiential learning through processes of operation, observation, exploration, interaction, and reflection. At the same time, it enhances the professional teaching knowledge of subject teachers in response to the 12-year basic education curriculum, assisting teachers in integrating the spirit of the new curriculum into the content of various teaching activities.
3. To provide rich outdoor education learning content, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts will offer professional group guided tours and post-visit sharing sessions for visiting teachers and students, assisting teachers in completing their outdoor education courses. The main points are as follows (details in the attachment):
(1) Current Exhibition: "Self-Portraits in Multiple Mirrors," with two sub-themes: "Gazing at the Self" and "Reflexive Manifestation." It features works by 50 photographers and visual artists, exhibiting 128 pieces. The exhibition explores the exploration of self-consciousness and social reflections by creators from different periods, from the Japanese colonial era to the contemporary. It includes works by photographers Chang Chao-tang (1943-2024) and Hou Shu-tzu (1962-2023), as well as works by six other female artists and indigenous artist Lalalruan Bacyan, presented in various media such as photography and video. The selection spans different ethnic groups and genders, showcasing the breadth of imagery across different eras and diverse issues, making it an excellent teaching material outside the classroom.
(2) Guided Tour of the "Former Osaka Shosen Kaisha, Taipei Branch" (a designated historic site in the municipality): Built in 1937, the "Former Osaka Shosen Kaisha, Taipei Branch" is an example of Xingya-style architecture with architectural historical value. After Taiwan's retrocession in 1945, Taiwan Navigation Company and the Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (formerly Taiwan Provincial Highway Bureau) were located here, giving it transportation historical value. This historic site, with its architectural, transportation, and cultural heritage value, allows teachers and students to explore related historical contexts. It is currently managed and maintained by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
(3) Tour Arrangements:
1. Scheduled Tours: Tuesdays to Fridays at 2:00 PM; Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Registration is on-site at the service desk on the day of the visit. Each tour is limited to 15 people.
