Selection of youth representatives for the Executive Yuan and the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Children and Youth Welfare and Rights Affairs Committee

Subject: To select youth representatives for the Executive Yuan and the Ministry of Health and Welfare's child and youth welfare and rights-related committees, applications are now open until July 24, 113 (2024). Please assist in disseminating and announcing the event information, and invite interested youth to participate. Details are as follows. Please acknowledge receipt.
Explanation:  
I. In accordance with the letter from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ref. No. Wei Shou Jia Zi Di 1130660647, dated June 13, 113 (2024), and Article 5, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 1 of the "Principles for Selecting Child and Youth Representatives to Participate in Central Child and Youth Welfare and Rights-Related Committees."
II. The Ministry of Health and Welfare, in accordance with Article 6 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child Implementation Act, Article 10 of the Child and Youth Welfare and Rights Protection Act, and the Ministry's "Principles for Selecting Child and Youth Representatives to Participate in Central Child and Youth Welfare and Rights-Related Committees," is conducting the selection of central youth representatives.
III. The term for the central youth representatives this time is one year (from January 1, 114 (2025) to December 31, 114 (2025)). The qualifications for central youth representatives are as follows: must meet the age requirement, have household registration within this city, and reside or attend school here.
IV. Interest survey and selection registration: Youth will be recommended through fair, just, and open methods. Candidates are not limited to those who have served or are currently serving as local youth representatives. An interest survey will be conducted for recommendations and registration as candidates, and the city's empowerment specialists will be invited to handle the selection process.
V. Selection information is as follows:
(1) Candidate eligibility: Born after January 1, 97 (2008).
(2) Selection committee eligibility: Born on or after August 10, 96 (2007), and under 18 years of age on the day of selection.
(3) Registration method: Send an email to the bureau's contact person (Mr. Xu, E-mail: 80033635@mail.tycg.gov.tw).
(4) Preliminary selection: A written review will be conducted by the bureau, including age, elementary/junior high school status, disability, indigenous status, and content of written materials. Those who meet the qualifications will be submitted to the selection meeting.
(5) Selection meeting: Candidates will present their participation ideas, and a secret ballot will be held. A maximum of the top five candidates will be selected, and the list will be compiled and sent to the Ministry of Health and Welfare within the deadline.
(6) Number of selections: A maximum of 5 representatives will be recommended. The selection should ensure at least one representative each for children and youth with disabilities, indigenous children and youth, and elementary/junior high school students. Additionally, up to 2 representatives for children and youth regardless of circumstances can be recommended, with no more than two of the same gender (Note: This includes biological sex or LGBTI, still capped at 2).
VI. To help youth understand the youth representative system for the Executive Yuan and the Ministry of Health and Welfare's child and youth welfare and rights-related committees, the bureau will hold an online selection briefing session on Friday, July 12, 113 (2024), from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Youth who meet the selection qualifications are welcome to participate. The registration form for the briefing session will close at 10:00 AM on July 12.
