Description:
I. The National Taiwan Library (hereinafter referred to as NTL) is celebrating its 110th anniversary by collaborating with the "Qunying Feiyu World Bird Photography Team" to host a joint photography exhibition. This exhibition aims to promote public awareness of birds, understanding of ecological environments, and conservation concepts, fostering a vision of peaceful coexistence with nature and mutual respect for the living environments of both humans and animals.
II. The exhibition will be held from July 16 (Tuesday) to August 25 (Sunday) at the NTL. It will feature 196 photographs showcasing Taiwan's endemic species, endemic subspecies, raptors, vagrant birds, globally endangered bird species, and raptors or other bird species photographed abroad. Each artwork will include an explanatory card, shooting location, shooting time, bird habit information, Chinese and English bird names (including phonetic symbols for easy identification by students), and photography data (such as camera, lens, aperture, shutter speed, EV value, ISO, etc.). This is designed for beginners to learn from and experienced photographers to observe, embodying a strong concept of ecological sustainability in response to the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
III. Additionally, 10 lectures are scheduled. The first lecture, "Wetlands and Health - Migratory Bird Conservation and Human Well-being," will take place on July 20. It will introduce the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, the World Health Organization's technical report on "Healthy Wetlands, Healthy People," and the impact and response of wetland power generation. On July 27, the lecture "Costa Rican Jewels" will introduce four critically endangered and endangered bird species: the Golden-browed Chlorophonia, the Three-wattled Bellbird, the Resplendent Quetzal, and the Great Kiskadee (male/female), with a special focus on the rare sight of the male and female Great Kiskadee displaying their crests during courtship. Want to hear interesting stories about the Crested Serpent Eagle through pictures? On August 4, the lecture "Photographic Emotions Hidden Within" will share personal reflections on photography through artworks, capturing moments of waiting and discovery, accompanied by humorous and engaging stories. IV. We welcome families and friends of all ages to visit, listen, and learn about bird knowledge and photography techniques during the summer vacation. To help visitors create lasting memories, the NTL has specially designed and printed a "whirlwind-style" booklet for visitors to collect. In addition to being able to fold the pages themselves, the booklet includes pictures and habit descriptions (with phonetic symbols) of over ten bird species, making it both fun and educational, and an excellent learning tool for children.
V. Furthermore, by visiting the "Qunying Feiyu 2024 World Bird Photography Joint Exhibition" and taking a photo with your mobile phone or checking in on Facebook, you can get a stamp at the NTL's 1st-floor book borrowing and returning counter to participate in the MUSE Big Player activity: https://muse.moe.gov.tw/
