| Description: |
| I. | In accordance with the Ministry of Education, Department of Secondary and Preschool Education's letter No. 1130141993 dated November 29, 113. |
| II. | The World Health Organization (WHO) once again declared the mpox epidemic a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on August 14, 113, and called on all countries to pay attention to cross-border transmission. Currently, mpox Ib cases have appeared in some countries in Africa and Eurasia, and the United States reported its first case of type I on November 16, 113. Based on maintaining the health of the people and reducing the risk of mpox infection abroad, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is providing the aforementioned self-paid vaccination service. |
| III. | Given the continuous risk of epidemic transmission at home and abroad, please assist in publicizing the relevant prevention and control matters as follows: |
| (1) | Starting December 1, 113, eight contracted travel medicine hospitals nationwide (list attached) will provide self-paid mpox vaccination services. Individuals who "do not meet the criteria for public-funded" mpox vaccination and "are assessed by a physician" to have an exposure risk can receive the mpox vaccine at their own expense. |
| (2) | If traveling to countries with an epidemic (according to international travel epidemic recommendations), appropriate protective measures should be taken. It is recommended that individuals with an exposure risk consult at a travel medicine clinic 6-8 weeks before departure to complete a 2-dose vaccination (with at least a 4-week interval between doses). |
| (3) | Taiwanese nationals or foreign nationals holding a Taiwanese residence permit or having National Health Insurance status, who meet the criteria for public-funded mpox vaccination, should get vaccinated as soon as possible. Two doses are required for complete protection. Currently, a total of 265 contracted medical institutions nationwide offer public-funded vaccination services. |
| IV. | For detailed mpox vaccination criteria and epidemic prevention information (such as: public-funded vaccination criteria, contracted medical institutions for vaccination services, international travel epidemic recommendations), please visit the CDC's official website (https://www.cdc.gov.tw) for inquiries. |
| V. | A list of contracted travel medicine hospitals providing self-paid mpox vaccination is attached. |
