In response to the severe international African Swine Fever epidemic, please strengthen publicity and prevent illegal import of animal products to maintain the safety of our country's agricultural production.

I. Processed in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's letter No. 1140003695 dated January 16, 114.
II. With the Lunar New Year holiday approaching, it is anticipated that cases of travelers violating regulations will increase. According to statistics from the Department, since the beginning of this year, most cases of citizens violating regulations by carrying animal quarantine items have occurred among those returning from mainland China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan, Macau, and Singapore. Commonly violated imported animal products include pork floss egg rolls, ham sausages, sausages, chicken feet, dried meat, semi-cooked eggs, chicken, duck, and goose meat products, and in-flight meals containing meat.
III. Please disseminate information to your school's (kindergarten's) faculty, staff, and students, advising them not to carry animal and plant quarantine items upon entry. Please also inform friends and relatives abroad not to mail or send pork products or other animal quarantine items to Taiwan to avoid penalties.
IV. If pork products are found to be illegally carried into the country from countries (regions) that have experienced African Swine Fever in the last three years, a fine of NT$200,000 will be imposed for the first offense, and a fine of NT$1,000,000 will be imposed for the second offense.
