| I. | According to the press release issued by the Central Disaster Response Center on May 16, 114 (2025), the international African Swine Fever (ASF) epidemic remains severe. Currently, 19 countries in Asia have become affected areas, with continuous reports of outbreaks in wild boars or domestic pigs. As of April 30, 114 (2025), 899 out of 8,543 tested samples have tested positive for African Swine Fever virus nucleic acid, with an average positive rate of 10.5%. Test results indicate that neighboring countries such as China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia continue to pose a high risk of spreading ASF. Among these, samples from mainland China have the highest positive rate at 11.4%. |
| II. | Please remind your faculty, staff, and students not to purchase imported meat products from affected areas or unknown sources online, and to inform relatives and friends abroad not to mail pork products to Taiwan from overseas. If you receive a package containing pork products from an unknown source, you can contact the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, for collection, or deliver it to any of its branches or local animal quarantine authorities for disposal. |
