Announcement Compilation

To inform the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (hereinafter referred to as the CDC) that in order to strengthen the prevention and control of sexually transmitted infections such as syphilis and gonorrhea in Taiwan, an "Educational Resources for Sexually Transmitted Infections" section has been established, and "Anonymous Consultation and Syphilis Screening Services for Sexually Transmitted Infections" will be provided starting from July 1, 2025. Please assist in publicizing and utilizing these resources.

Description:  
I. In accordance with the letter from the Department of Secondary and Preschool Education, Ministry of Education, No. 1140064396, dated July 11, 114.
II. According to surveillance data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the number of confirmed cases of gonorrhea and syphilis among young people aged 15-24 in Taiwan has increased annually from 1,265 cases of gonorrhea and 1,301 cases of syphilis in 107 to 2,498 cases of gonorrhea and 1,755 cases of syphilis in 113, an increase of 97% and 35% respectively. This highlights the importance of preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) on campus.
III. The CDC and the Ministry of Education are collaborating to empower school staff and students as a strategy to promote students' awareness and practice of safe sexual behaviors, assist in the testing and diagnosis of legally mandated STIs, in order to promote the sexual health of young people and reduce the incidence of STIs.
IV. The content of the aforementioned special zone is divided into general public, educators, medical and public health personnel, multilingual health education materials, and other related resources. The content includes information on contraception, safe sex, understanding, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, screening, destigmatization, and friendly medical services for various STIs. It also synchronizes and updates content related to debunking myths about contraceptive methods. V. Starting from July 1, 114, the CDC has commissioned 13 hospitals nationwide to provide "Anonymous Consultation Services for Sexually Transmitted Infections." The public can consult through various channels such as phone, E-mail, and Line@. To encourage young people to actively get screened, "Syphilis Rapid Screening Services for young people aged 24 (inclusive) and below or students" are also provided. Eligible individuals can receive free syphilis rapid screening with relevant proof of identity. VI. Considering the different cognitive development and sex education needs at various school age levels, the CDC has produced STI campus scrolling banner slogans suitable for junior high and high school students. We request your school to assist in displaying appropriate slogans on campus scrolling banners or through other suitable channels in a timely manner to enhance information dissemination effectiveness.
