| Note: |
| I. | Since August 2018, our country has continuously tested for the virus nucleic acid in pork products illegally imported from the border. As of August 31, 2025, a total of 9,076 samples have been tested, with 949 cases testing positive for African swine fever virus nucleic acid. These cases originated from neighboring countries such as mainland China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, with an average positive rate of 10.46%. Among them, 806 positive samples came from mainland China, accounting for 84.9% of the positive cases, indicating that the risk of African swine fever transmission from the aforementioned countries remains high. |
| II. | The period around the Mid-Autumn Festival is the peak season for travelers carrying, freight express, and international postal parcels with illegally imported animal products. In particular, mooncakes containing pork that are imported from abroad are the main source of illegal products and the biggest risk for transmitting African swine fever. We urge everyone to inform their relatives and friends abroad not to send mooncakes or gifts containing pork to Taiwan, so that we can jointly maintain Taiwan's hard-won status as an African swine fever-free area. |
| III. | The Central Emergency Operation Center for African Swine Fever stated that to prevent the invasion of African swine fever, our country continues to implement strict border controls to deter complacency among the public. Since April 2023, enhanced enforcement measures have been implemented with green channel clearance. Violations will be fined once discovered. |
| IV. | For more information and promotions on African swine fever, please refer to the "Reference Table for Quarantine Regulations on Common Plants, Animals, or Their Products Carried by Arriving Travelers" on the African Swine Fever Information Zone of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine Agency, Ministry of Agriculture (https://asf.aphia.gov.tw/). |
