Ministry of Education '113-115 Taiwan Hokkien Cartoon and Animation Subtitle Production and Dubbing Project' 114th Year Achievements

| Subject: | To inform you about the Ministry of Education's "Taiwanese Hokkien Cartoon and Animation Subtitling and Dubbing Project (2025-2027)" and its 2026 achievements, please be informed. |
| Explanation: |
| I. | In accordance with the Ministry of Education's letter No. 1140112693, dated October 28, 2025. |
| II. | To promote Taiwanese Hokkien and enhance public interest in learning it, the Ministry of Education has commissioned National Taichung University of Education to undertake the aforementioned project. Six authorized domestic and international cartoons and animations have been selected based on the learning abilities of students in public senior high schools, junior high schools, elementary schools, and kindergartens nationwide. These will be dubbed into Taiwanese Hokkien and will include a Taiwanese Hokkien subtitle menu for comparative learning. |
| III. | The achievements for this period include: "Insect Island" (26 episodes, kindergarten level), "Zannen Mononoke Jiten" (26 episodes, elementary school level), "Fire Force" (1 episode, elementary school level), "The Gokusen" Season 1 (12 episodes, junior and senior high school level), "Komi Can't Communicate" (13 episodes, junior and senior high school level), and "The Incredible Story of David Copperfield" (1 episode, junior and senior high school level). Among these, "Insect Island" depicts the daily lives and interactions of friends, suitable for preschool children. "Zannen Mononoke Jiten" discusses the habits and characteristics of various creatures. "Fire Force" tells the story of Joji, who dreams of becoming a firefighter like his father and goes to great lengths to disguise himself and join a fire squad to find a serial arsonist, pursuing his dream! The latter two cartoons are suitable for elementary school students. "The Gokusen" involves agriculture and animal husbandry, with rich academic content. "The Incredible Story of David Copperfield" allows for understanding the iconic historical figure Leonardo da Vinci from different perspectives. "Komi Can't Communicate" allows viewers to experience the value of personal growth and friendship with the protagonists. The latter three cartoons are highly suitable for junior and senior high school students. |
| IV. | The aforementioned achievements were simultaneously made available on the "Ministry of Education Taiwanese Hokkien Animation Network" (https://twbangga.moe.edu.tw) on November 1, 2025, for public online viewing. |
| V. | In addition, DVDs of these achievements will be distributed to schools by National Taichung University of Education. Public senior high schools, and junior high schools will receive a set of 4 DVDs including "The Gokusen," "The Incredible Story of David Copperfield," and "Komi Can't Communicate." Public elementary schools will receive a set of 3 DVDs including "Zannen Mononoke Jiten" and "Fire Force." Public kindergartens will receive a set of 2 DVDs of "Insect Island." These DVDs are intended solely for schools to use as Taiwanese Hokkien language learning resources and for classroom instruction. Public broadcasting or downloading on other media platforms is prohibited. |
