Description:
I.This is in accordance with the letter No. 1140134131 from the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, dated December 18, 114.
II.Based on the discussions at the 4th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare on December 9, 114, considering that winter is the peak season for respiratory infectious diseases, and the subsequent increase in COVID-19 transmission risk due to frequent family visits and travel during the Lunar New Year holiday, and that it takes about 2 weeks to develop antibodies after vaccination, it was decided to expand the scope of free COVID-19 vaccination to include "individuals aged 6 months and above who have not yet been vaccinated" from January 1, 115, to February 28, 115, in order to enhance the public's immune protection and reduce the risk of severe illness and death after infection.
III.Currently, there are two brands of free COVID-19 vaccines available in Taiwan: Moderna and Novavax. According to their approved indications, the Moderna LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine is suitable for individuals aged 6 months and above, while the Novavax JN.1 COVID-19 vaccine is suitable for individuals aged 12 years and above. Therefore, individuals aged 6 months to 11 years can only receive the Moderna LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine, and individuals aged 12 years and above can choose either brand. During the expanded vaccination period, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated can receive a dose. If an individual has already received one brand of vaccine, they do not need to be vaccinated again; related vaccination recommendations are the same as the current implementation.
IV.Information regarding vaccination locations for the aforementioned vaccines will be regularly updated on the COVID-19 Vaccination Special Zone of each local health bureau and the "Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccine and Influenza Medication Map" of the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare. To promote international exchange and research development in cooperative enterprises, the Taiwan Housewives' Association Consumer Cooperative (hereinafter referred to as the Housewives' Association Cooperative) is organizing the aforementioned HUB lecture. Please refer to the event poster for the online registration link.
V.For any questions regarding this matter, please contact Ms. Chang Chia-ling at the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, at telephone number: 04-37061364.
