| Subject: | As the new semester begins, please strengthen publicity in your schools (kindergartens) to prevent illegal import of animal products and maintain the safety of our country's agricultural production. Details are as follows. Please be informed. |
| Description: |
| 1. | According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Taiwan submitted its application for self-declaration as an African Swine Fever (ASF) non-infected area to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) on February 21, 115 (2026). This case is handled in accordance with WOAH's normative procedures, indicating that Taiwan's ASF prevention and control system has returned to stability, with complete monitoring evidence and the technical conditions to regain non-infected area status. |
| 2. | The ASF epidemic situation is severe internationally, with 84 countries currently affected. Please publicize to the faculty, staff, and students of your schools (kindergartens) not to carry animal and plant quarantine items when entering the country. Please also inform foreign relatives and friends not to mail pork products or other animal quarantine items to Taiwan to avoid penalties. |
| 3. | If pork products from countries (regions) that have experienced ASF in the last three years are illegally carried in and discovered, a fine of NT$200,000 will be imposed for the first offense, and a fine of NT$1,000,000 will be imposed for the second offense. |
| 4. | ASF publicity materials can be downloaded and used from the ASF Information Zone of the Bureau (https://asf.aphia.gov.tw/ws.php?id=17894). The "Reference Table for Quarantine Regulations on Animal and Plant Products Commonly Carried by Inbound Travelers" can be downloaded from (https://www.aphia.gov.tw/ws.php?id=10719). |
