Subject:Given that the season is gradually entering summer, please ensure that your school (kindergarten) strengthens the implementation of heatstroke prevention measures when organizing various activities and courses, and avoids prolonged exposure of students (children) to the scorching sun. Please be informed.
Explanation:
1.Please have your school (kindergarten) personnel grasp the apparent temperature forecast issued by the Central Weather Bureau before organizing various activities and courses. If the apparent temperature reaches the threshold on a given day, your school (kindergarten) should adjust the implementation methods of various activities and courses in accordance with the "Taoyuan City Affiliated Schools Outdoor Activity Response to High Temperature Principles." Even if the apparent temperature does not reach the threshold on a given day, please also pay close attention to students' (children's) sun protection and avoid prolonged exposure to the scorching sun.
2.To prevent heatstroke incidents on campus due to hot weather, please have your school (kindergarten) continuously promote and implement the following heatstroke prevention measures:
(1)Adequate hydration and electrolyte replenishment: Students should be advised to drink water regularly and not wait until they are thirsty. Room temperature water is recommended. If engaging in physical activity, drink 400 to 600cc of water 30 minutes before exercise (in 2 to 3 servings); drink 200 to 300cc every 10 to 20 minutes before and during exercise. Room temperature water is preferred, and electrolytes should be replenished as needed.
(2)Avoid outdoor activities in direct sunlight: Continuously monitor the high temperature information and UV index issued by the Central Weather Bureau. Reduce outdoor activities and courses between 10 AM and 2 PM, and adjust them to indoor or shaded areas as appropriate to ensure student safety.
(3)Wear cool and breathable clothing: Advise students to wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting, breathable clothing with good moisture-wicking properties to enhance heat dissipation.
(4)Maintain classroom ventilation: Use air conditioning, fans, or misting to lower indoor temperatures and regularly check that ventilation equipment is functioning properly.
(5)Establish an emergency response protocol for heatstroke on campus: Continuously monitor students' physical condition during activities. If a student experiences symptoms such as cramps, fainting, headache, fatigue, or confusion, they should be moved to a cool, well-ventilated area to rest and be promptly sent for medical evaluation and treatment.
3.The "Taoyuan City Affiliated Schools Outdoor Activity Response to High Temperature Principles" are provided for your school's (kindergarten's) reference and use. Your school (kindergarten) may still arrange appropriate activities and venues based on school site planning and students' (children's) physical conditions, but please ensure that your school (kindergarten) pays close attention to students' sun protection, hydration, and health to reduce the risk of heatstroke on campus.
4.Additionally, your school (kindergarten) should regularly monitor the high temperature information issued by the Central Weather Bureau (the Bureau issues high temperature information for the next day at 5:30 PM daily, URL: https://www.cwa.gov.tw/V8/C/P/Warning/W29.html). You can access heatstroke warning information through Health Weather (URL: https://crowa.cwa.gov.tw/HealthWeather/). Resources such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare's heatstroke prevention educational materials, manuals, infographics, special articles, and the "Happy Weather APP - Health Weather Service" are also available.
