| Subject: | To prevent the spread of dengue fever, please strengthen campus inspections, implement "inspect, empty, clear, scrub," and reduce containers to thoroughly eliminate breeding grounds for vector mosquitoes. Please be informed. |
| Details: |
| 1. | In accordance with the Ministry of Education, Department of Secondary Education's letter No. 1150050340 dated June 2, 115. |
| 2. | The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced the first local case of dengue fever on May 23, 115. Given the continuous rise in temperatures and frequent rainfall, which are conducive to the breeding of vector mosquitoes, coupled with an increasing number of imported cases, dengue prevention and control efforts are urgent. |
| 3. | Please continue to manage the environment of vacant lots, empty houses, construction sites, and other high-risk areas under your jurisdiction. Proactively conduct regular environmental management, especially strengthening outdoor inspections within 48 hours after rain. For cooling towers, discarded tires, ditches, gutters, and other common breeding grounds, strictly implement the "inspect, empty, clear, scrub" principle. Thoroughly remove or invert indoor and outdoor water-holding containers, and use the "Dengue/Chikungunya Vector Mosquito Breeding Ground Self-Inspection Form" for self-assessment to ensure a clean campus environment. Key tasks are as follows: |
| (1) | Inspect: Conduct thorough inspections to prevent water accumulation indoors and outdoors, and clear discarded water-holding containers, ditches, etc., inside and outside classrooms or on campus. |
| (2) | Empty: Empty accumulated water, invert or cover containers; fill natural containers (e.g., traveler's palms, bamboo tubes, tree hollows, rock crevices) and road depressions with soil or sand. |
| (3) | Clear: Reduce the number of containers, discard unnecessary items, and thoroughly clean all used utensils. |
| (4) | Scrub: Scrub the inside of containers to remove eggs and prevent vector mosquito breeding. Do not allow water to accumulate and breed mosquitoes. |
| 4. | Please continue to strengthen dengue fever prevention and health education. Remind frontline personnel to implement personal protective measures, such as wearing light-colored long-sleeved clothing and applying government-approved mosquito repellent to exposed skin. Also, wear masks, waterproof gloves, and boots to ensure personal safety and reduce the risk of dengue transmission. |
| 5. | In response to the emergence of local cases, if a confirmed case occurs on campus, please cooperate with the local government to immediately activate emergency response mechanisms. Strengthen the elimination of breeding grounds and chemical control (spraying) in the vicinity of the case. The Ministry of the Environment will conduct on-site inspections periodically; please cooperate actively. Please fully cooperate with the epidemic prevention measures of local governments and health authorities, and follow the "Dengue Fever Prevention Work Manual" compiled by the Taiwan CDC for epidemic prevention, disinfection, monitoring, and subsequent reporting. (Please visit the Taiwan CDC website homepage > Infectious Diseases > Category 2 Notifiable Infectious Diseases > Dengue Fever > Important Guidelines and Materials > Dengue Fever Prevention Work Guidelines). |
| 6. | For information related to dengue fever prevention and control, please visit the Taiwan CDC's official website (http://www.cdc.gov.tw) for browsing or downloading, or call the toll-free epidemic prevention hotline 1922 (or 0800-001922) for inquiries. |
