Subject:Please continue to implement dengue fever and other mosquito-borne infectious disease prevention measures during the summer vacation, and enhance the epidemic prevention knowledge of faculty, staff, and students. Details are as follows. Please be informed.
Details:
1.In accordance with the letter No. 1150055726 from the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, dated June 17, 115.
2.Currently, it is the peak season for dengue fever and rainfall is frequent. According to the press release from the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare, dated May 26, 115, dengue mosquitoes seek water sources to lay eggs after feeding. To interrupt the breeding of larvae, please continue to strengthen the removal of standing water in containers and implement the following dengue fever prevention measures in schools:
(1)Before the summer vacation, please use various channels to remind faculty, staff, and students to take mosquito repellent measures when traveling to or participating in activities in dengue fever/chikungunya endemic areas, or joining overseas volunteer groups. This includes wearing light-colored long-sleeved clothing and using government-approved mosquito repellents. Additionally, upon arrival/return from endemic areas, please monitor your health for 14 days (incubation period). If you experience symptoms such as fever, headache, retro-orbital pain, muscle or joint pain, or rash, please seek medical attention promptly and inform the doctor of your travel history.
(2)Manage the health of faculty, staff, and students. If there are suspected symptoms, please assist them in seeking medical attention as soon as possible and implement reporting procedures (to the local health unit and the Ministry of Education's Campus Safety Center). In addition, a health monitoring and reporting mechanism can be established to keep track of the health status of faculty, staff, and students.
(3)Complete campus environmental management (reduction of containers and elimination of breeding grounds) and record keeping. Please plan in advance for responsible areas and available manpower before the summer vacation. During the summer vacation, inspect indoor and outdoor areas and containers prone to dengue mosquito breeding at least once a week, implement the "inspect, pour, clear, scrub" cleaning steps, and strengthen efforts to clear standing water within 48 hours after rain.
(4)Strengthen the monitoring and prevention efforts for listed high-risk areas (such as vacant houses and land, construction sites, recycling areas, and places where standing water is difficult to remove or where positive breeding sources have been found).
3.For information related to dengue fever prevention and control, please visit the official website of the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare (http://www.cdc.gov.tw) for browsing or downloading. Alternatively, you can call the toll-free epidemic prevention hotline 1922 (or 0800-001922) for inquiries.
