| Subject: | Due to the ongoing domestic enterovirus epidemic, please strengthen enterovirus prevention and related health education during the summer vacation. Please be informed. |
| Explanation: |
| 1. | In accordance with the Ministry of Education, Department of Secondary Education, letter No. 1150063028 dated July 7, 115. |
| 2. | According to monitoring data from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Centers for Disease Control, the domestic enterovirus epidemic is showing an upward trend. In the 25th week of 115 (June 21 to June 27), there were 6,837 outpatient visits for enterovirus nationwide, an increase of 8.3% from the previous week (6,311 visits). Additionally, as of June 115, there have been 5 cases of severe enterovirus infection complications (including 1 death due to Coxsackievirus A4). The risk of severe complications from enterovirus infection in young children remains high. |
| 3. | It is currently the summer vacation period, but many childcare institutions continue to operate. To reduce the risk of enterovirus infection in young children, childcare institution staff should strengthen enterovirus prevention measures in accordance with the "Enterovirus Prevention Work Guidelines" and the "Enterovirus Prevention Manual for Childcare Providers." Key points include: |
| (1) | Educate children on the correct transmission routes, prevention methods, and related knowledge of enteroviruses. Promote correct handwashing, respiratory hygiene, and the importance of resting at home when sick. |
| (2) | Provide clean restrooms and handwashing facilities (including an adequate supply of soap or detergent), and post information on correct handwashing. |
| (3) | Maintain environmental cleanliness and ventilation. Regularly disinfect surfaces frequently touched by children with a 500 ppm chlorine-based bleach solution. |
| (4) | Monitor children's health and attendance. In case of enterovirus cases or suspected outbreaks, report to the competent authority in a timely manner according to relevant regulations to implement preventive measures promptly. |
